Just prior to attacking Franklin, Hood called an Officers call. Severla of the Officers advised against attacking including Forrest who offered to take a Division of Infantry and his Cavalry and Flank the Union Army. Hood declined. Hood was man at Cheatham, Cleburne and Brown and was bent on "eradicating the Army of the Tennessee of those soldiers who did not want to fight unless they were behind breastworks". He basically called them cowards. So they showed him they were not cowards and he was a fool for attacking those breastwoks across an open field at Franklin.
