Speaking of real bullets...I remember a rather grisly discussion once on some board or other, about why Northern soldiers bloated and smelled so badly when they were left on the field for a while, but the Confederates just seemed to dry up, and maybe turn dark. The concensus, if I remember correctly, was that the boys in blue ate more and better, and had more fat on their bodies to render out, while the graybacks were all too skinny to have enough meat on them to do more than shrivel up. Kind of gruesome, but it was a gruesome war. Anybody ever hear that? Any different thoughts about the subject? Stan
