Chief,

Just my POV, but I think Fox's gives a far less lose by the CSA than they actually suffered. I have read accounts that over half of Mississippi's military age population was lost, my best guess about 35,000. If this is true with Mississippi then I have to wonder about the other states. Just this week, we have found men who served in the 7th Miss. that are new names to us. I also want to make it clear that I have never made an in depth study of these facts, but simply did some "reading."

If you want to pack that stat in top one timy little nutshell, it could be true. The thing is do you just take into consideration the ANV and not the AOT? If so a whole bunch of new stats come into play. J. B. Hood bloodied quite a few Confederates at Franklin and Nashville, the 3rd and the 7th Miss. can attest to that.

Now if total numbers are to be considered, including civies, then the two A-bombs numbers surely would have to come into play.

What this really seems like to me, is a spinoff of the old saying that Lincoln sent more Americans to their death than any other man in history.

Just some thoughts.
