No. not you Stan but the poorest in Alabama have a very high drop out rate and at work I ran into many elderly that can only print their name at best. My daughter has a Phd in childhood education and her thesis was about 70 percent of students in Alabama reading at a level of at least one grade below their grade level. Many of my Civil war relatives could not read or write. When I first entered college in the 50's one instructer told me I had a good 8th grade education and it was not my fault: that was all the "black belt counties" of Alabama had to offer.
