Frank, I've just come back from vacation...went to Georgia and back through KY, VA, TN, NC and Indiana. Except for a few raids, the only unionist areas to suffer from the war were those in the South...east KY, east TN,etc. Talk about Reconstruction. From what I've seen these areas got Confederate Reconstruction...crummy roads, utilities, work projects, whatever. Talked to a few old times and they agreed that those parts of the State got the shaft from their states governments. I guess paybacks are hell. We couldn't get those Northern boys but you Home Yankees can pay the price. It looks to me like they still are. I remember in Casablanca where the German General ask Rick about invading America. He told him he wouldn't advise invading parts of New York. I would advise you don't invade Harlan County Kentucky, I grew up in the Black Slums but when it comes to rough, they got nothing on those boys. They some Bad .... well ya know what I mean.
