Re: Congress shuts down Delta Queen

"the Delta Queen does have several Civil War cruises a year. In 1999, she was ambushed by an artillery battery of reenactors below Alexandria. She surrendered, and left the scene with her calliope playing "Dixie." You had to be there."

In the mid 90's on one of the trips that the Delta Queen was making trips up the Arkansas River, she had scheduled a stop at a riverside park where we were conducting a Civil War living history weekend. The passengers were surprised when our company boarded the vessal and began checking the papers of those on board to see if any "yankee's" were on board. The Captain and crew were highly accommadating and the passengers when along with the fun and enjoyed an unexpected entertainment.
