Re: Congress shuts down Delta Queen

Yes the responce was very positive. The public seem to enjoy such things when they become a part of the show.

Of course some of the passengers were a bit surprised. This was about 8:00 am in the morning when a ships officer, an a Confederate Officer, flanked by two well armed Guards knocked on the staterooms door and the Confederate Officer in his best southern drall asked to see their papers and what was their purpose in traveling?

Bare in mind here that this wasn't a part of the "official" Tour program and was quite unexpected to the passengers. Most of them quickly realized the game being played. But a few seem a bit concerned seeing 30 armed men with muskets and fixed bayonet in the passageways and on deck throughout the ship.

The Captain of the Delta Queen was a real sport about playing along and thought it was grand that we provided his passengers with a bit of "High Drama" for about two hours before we were satisfied that all the passengers were loyal to the Confederacy.
