On the serious side, he was one of the best leaders we had in the war. He was a superior map maker and late in his civil war career he switched to the calvary as you know. Was one of the best "training" generals we had. Was a good stratigists and a wonderful tactician. In the the battle of Selma (Last battle of the war?) He was able to out Forrest N B Forrest and that says a lot about his abilities. In my opinion. Represented the country well into the 20th century.
