That wasn't just back in the early 60s. That painting hung behind nearly every bar in the country for the a large part of the first half of the 20th century. The original model for the painting was a wall-size mural done by Cassily Adams, who during the War was an officer aboard USS Ouachita.

And just for the record, your "Reb brethren" were exposed to that painting just as much as you were.

Dang it, Jamie, it's just too easy to hijack these threads. It doesn't happen all at once, but over a few posts, you go from free boots to bar paintings and no one ever even saw it coming.
