Re: Were the Southern states coordinating secessio

I doubt seriously that if any had given thought to the devastating consequences of the war they would have went along.

First gallant South Carolina nobly made the stand,
Then came Alabama, who took her by the hand;
Next quickly Mississippi, Georgia and Florida,
All raised on high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

South Carolina had been threatening secession ever since the Constitution was adopted. This was an important part of the Missouri Compromise of 1840. Old Hickory was adamant about the Union and said he would personally lead an army against any secessionists. That kept them in for a while. On the other hand the states Of Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee only seceded when realization of a conquring army crossing their lands was inevitable. So it comes down to the fact that the confederate states expected Lincoln to not have the strength and resolution of Andy Jackson.

Listen to me won't you, ya'll going to make me literary yet. Oh, and I love this spell chek btw.
