David, not sure I buy into your theory of a Boston-inspired jihad against the forces of tolerance and ecumenism down South. I don't doubt that the officer you mention said exactly what you say he did, and perhaps there were quite a few others amongst the radicals who shared that view, but I would be hard-pressed to accept that this typified the views of most rank and file New Englanders.
