Alan,

It is true that the plaques were removed, but Penny is right about the amount of Confederate related material and monuments at the Texas State Capitol. On the Capitol Ground are three (3) massive monuments to the Confederate dead, Terry's Texas Rangers and Hood's Texas Brigade. The grounds also includes two (2) original "Napoleon's" (Model 1857 12 pdr field howitzers), an original 3-Inch Ordnance Rifle and two (2) "stubby" howitzers at the South Entrance that look like 24-pdrs.

In spite of the plaque removal, the Confederate history of Texas is still proudly and boldly honored at the state capitol.
