That particular website has always proven correct to me. Especially the order of battle. Those stats as far as ordnance go look credible to me. The main difference between a "gun" and a "howitzer" is the ratio of calibers (bore size) to the length of the barrel. Post this question on the artillery message board and a VERY knowledgable fellow by the name of Shawn Clark can give you those ratios. The formula even goes as far as indicating at what length a gun tube actually begins to have a negative effect on the projectile. Artillery is said to have had minimal effect on casualty numbers in relation to other ordnance but that it had more of a demoralizing effect. However connoneers of the time were very well educated in their craft and could fire these weapons with extreme accuracy. And looking back on my earlier post it is more likely that the "stubby" field pieces on display that Jim mentioned were indeed probably 24 or 32 pdr howitzers. Howitzers also have a chamber at the breech where the powder charge goes unlike a gun that is the same bore diameter all the way to the breech.
