Yes I am, but those guys didn't.

They saw a Battleflag and thought they had found a bunch of their buddies. When our members of African decent appeared in uniform, they realized that we weren't their buddies without us having to say a word, or causing a scene.

I just thought that it was a wonderful way for black reenactor to strick a blow against racism by protraying black southerner. It breaks all sorts of stereotype misconceptions both then and now. The presence of these members in our group have opened several doors for us with "official" types of events such as parade and festival organizer including doing memorial service for the V.A. and V.F.W.

I don't know how many people have come up to our members and said "that isn't correct for a black to be in Confederate Uniform?" At which point an educational oppertunity proceeds forth.

I don't know how many radical racist have been sent running in the past because of the presence of our African heritage members, but it was the first time it was so obvious by their racist reaction around me.
