Bob you might want to read "How West Virginia Was Made", by Virgil A. Lewis, in 1909. My favorite book on constitutional secession vs. natural right of revolution is ...A New Birth Of Freedom..by Harry V. Jaffa. First out in paperback in 2004, great read. While I do have about half a million relatives in East TN and West NC, I don't have any from West Virginia... that I know of...my mom moved to Lancaster Ohio before I was born, we lived a short walk from the old Sherman House, hence Cump. My family were some of the first white settlers in the Monroe and Polk County areas of TN and the Cherokee County, NC area and around Union County GA. Still beautiful country, but do I desire to live there? Nope...Ohio suits me fine.
