Ken,

Me and mine are doing well. In fact, we're blessed. Our power is back on, we have plenty to eat, no problems with water and 3/4 of a tank of gas. Unfortunately, just a couple of blocks from me, people are still without power and suffering, not as much as along the coast (I live about 60 miles inland), but after four or five days without power supplies of food, gas and patience begin to run out. The area I live in, Kingwood, TX, is a "planned community" of about 50,000. The nickname for Kingwood is "The Livable Forest". We have lots of trees and in a hurricane, a mix of trees and power lines doesn't work too well.

Galveston and the coastal areas are destroyed. It will be months, if not years for these areas to come back. Thank goodness we did not get the 20-25 foot surge that was predicted just before the storm. The additional destruction and loss of life would have been overwhelming.

I'm trying to get caught up on things at home. I am a machine-tool salesman in Southeast Texas, so I really don't have any place to go to see customers. Even if their facilities are not damaged, they either don't have power or their employees can't get to work. I hope to be back to normal with my "day job" by next week.

Thanks to everyone for all the concern and prayers.

Jim
