Re: Did Lincoln violate his oath of office?

"All true patriots will agree that is a good outcome"

Oh COME ON!!!!!

So Now if we disagree with Lincoln and the way he executed an illegal war, we are not being patriotic simply because the supposed outcome of the War is something YOU agree with????????

If our forefathers went by that kind of reasoning we would still be under British rule. Our Forefathers were very "unpatriotic" against the British Government which was their lawful government. Yet we call that good and just. The British Government sent over 450 ships to the Colonies after the Revolution to give passage to her loyal subjects who did not wish to remain in America's rebellious colonies. One of my GGGrandfathers was one of those who took passage and left, one of his sons which was also a British tory stayed.

Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) not a year and a half ago, said that it was our patriotic DUTY to desent against policies which we disagreed with. That a President was not supposed to have unfettered authority. Is she right of wrong? Is she unpatriotic for saying this?

Anyway Who is capable of being that kind of Judge to say what is patriotic and who is not? If I am now capable of deciding for myself what the Constitution means, who is?. The Constitution was meant to be read and understood by the common man. I do not as a free born citizen of these United States, surrender that right to a Lawyer, or anyone else for that matter. Lawyers are the one who have gotten us into the mess we are in today.

We abide by laws only so long as we can live with them. When Reason doesn't work, when the Constitution fails, when Ballots don't count, there is only a few ways to correct that situation. Either "Secession" and "Revolution" if necessary, or "Rebellion" are the only options left. So don't get so cocky that it cain't happen here again. 50 years ago I thought I would never see this country in the shape it is in today. People are getting mad and they are losing confidence in this government.

"This ground has been Plowed before??????"

This ground needs to be plowed EVERY DAY, to remind us daily that our Government does not have a blank check to do whatever it wants to.

You "agree that is a good outcome"???????

Do you mean that you agree that the destruction of the south and the causing of 1/3 of the American people, including the very slaves which the northern army so "gloriously saved", to remain in bone crushing poverty, under restrictive policies, some of which were not repealed until the middle off the 20th Century, is a "Good Thing"?

The Glorious Union Army and federal government freed 4,000,000 slaves, who did not have the means or skills of survival, a government which used them as weapons of repression against the southern whites, and then abandoned them to their fates. You say that was a "Good Thing" too I suppose? Was it not also an outcome of that War?

And you wonder why there was racism after the Civil War. A government whose Supreme Court ruled that seperation by race was a reasonable concept. A government who failed to pass a Civil Rights act for their protection until 1964, and then not for the good of a people, but for political gains. And you marvel as to why some still harbor racist attitudes. And you call supporting all this "Patriotic", because it also was the "outcome" of that War?

You call all these things a "Good Outcome"?

Was there nothing else which could have accomplished the same "good objective" other than a war caused by a President who violated the Constitution at every turn to accomplish his political agenda?

Military Might will win Wars, but it will never make right if you play outside the rules. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
