Keep up the good work. What peaked my interest was the fact that Murphy is the county seat of Cherokee County NC. It's the area that my family had lived in since the early 1800s. G.W. Kirk and other Unionist skirmished with the 62nd and 64th NC and Home Guard units throughout that region. I had ancestors on both sides.
