In the last line of the post above mine, you will see in the brackets that the story comes from the Athens, Tennessee "Post", April 1861. It was apparently reprinted in the Indianapolis paper. And I've read enough 1860s newspapers to know that it was standard practice to run stories from other newspapers, which if George's post is correct, seems to be what happened here. But the only way I know it's from the Athens Post is what I read in the above message. I have no independent verification of any sort.
