Mike, it being the Sabbath, I was thinking of Father Berdan Proud....an articulate and erudite man of the cloth. Not to mention a true blue yankee. While checking some info. I saw where Vermont furnished more than one-sixth of the men in Hiram Berdan US Sharpshooters, about 620 from the link I saw. Of course Lorenzo Barber....another man of the cloth and the good Father's kinsman was from New York...Here's the link....
