Jim,

I must admit finding this caught me by surprise since I wasn't looking for this type of information, but was only reading the Declarations of Secession, to resond a NPS letter. The NPS takes the position that slavery was the cause of the war.

To answer your question this is my first and only time to see such a reference. I will be going back and reading the Texas and South Carolina declarations a little bit closer .
