My GGUncle ran off and left a wife and their children. This was way after the war. He went to South Fl and I've found his burial info in Monroe County. My GGGrandfather was ashamed of this. Some of the family elders knew the story but thought it showed the family in a bad light. This is not uncommon and it's sad that we as researchers have to dig up this stuff and in some cases reopen old wounds. I want the folks at the Geneology Society to understand that the information, no matter what, is just that, information. I hope they want to learn more once they get their feet wet.
