Re: US History as taught in Ark schools

Alan....those were good points and an interesting approach to getting kids interested in history. I may borrow them tomorrow evening when I address the parents, teachers, and fifth grade students at George Watkins Elementary School in New Kent County, VA. I'll be in Confederate uniform with my field piece and other weapons. I was surprised that they wanted me to present weapons. I always look forward to talking to the kids. My second grade Sunday School teacher took us on field trip to Appomattox. I bought a ring in the general store that was fashioned from a horse shoe nail. That's where it all started for me. Here's a good intro for kids that gets them thinking...."when is right wrong and left right?" The answwer of course is "when mounting a horse". Any more suggestions for my talk? I'd appreciate any you can offer. Thanks Alan.
