I wish that I could post a picture or two I took of Fort Sumter from the beach in front of Fort Moultrie to show just what I was talking about. It surprises me that I have never seen such a picture anywhere that I can remember.

As George P. said it was just like the Cuban Missle Crisis of the 1960's. Fort Sumter in the hands of a hostile force was a dagger pointed at the heart of Charleston and the young Confederacy and it is very appearent from surveying the actual lay of the land so to speak that was the primary intent of Robert Anderson and Abner Doubleday when they occupied Fort Sumter.
