Yes, and this may be why the 'official start date' has been on a merry go round for 150 years. Depends on who you ask. I'd sort of think trying to restock Sumter with soldiers and ammo is a big hint but others don't buy it. They'd like to blame Gen. Beau. Bless his heart.
Could it be that the 'secret' orders to the Powhatten be the real start? It was after all, aimed at baiting some til it became a shindig. Guess it was a game of 'dare' for those on both sides of the issue til Sumter and then it was a full scale hot potato.

At this late date, I think few really care to learn both sides of the issues talking points. We all know it did not end well for our side and then the war of words began. I cannot believe how many people tout the EP and say it was the best thing to come from that war and it freed everyone. They don't even read it, (and it's not very long), in schools anymore but they sure like to discuss the evil South and it's history of bondage. Guess they haven't really taken stock on what was happening in other parts of the US on the same subject.
