Dark and Bloody Ground

I just finished reading "Dark and Bloody Ground: The Battle of Mansfield and the Forgotten Civil War in Louisiana" by Thomas Ayers and would like to give y'all a heads-up.

The title is a little confusing because the focus of the book's main character is Gen. Richard Taylor. But don't be discouraged. Except for his time in Virginia and his last few months of the war spent in Alabama nobody had a greater impact on Louisiana than Taylor. If you've never studied the war west of the Mississippi River this is a great place to start. If you already study it this will be a real treat.

I don't feel qualified to offer a review but will say it is now one of my all time favorites. If you wish to purchase a copy click on one of Jim's links to Amazon so he can get a little help with expenses. Amazon list the book for abt. $12.00 new and $6.00 used.
