I don't understand why you have responded to Alan's postings the way you have. May I ask that you not escalate this into a "personal thing". Regarding the posting of other people's ideas. Other peoples ideas, as presented here, are sometimes referred to as "sources". I don't know how you can have an historical exchange without the use of other people's ideas, writings, thoughts, etc. My opinions and feelings matter nothing when weighed against researched historical evidence and sources. It is clear to me, that Alan is attempting to defuse and calm your exchange without the direct confrontation of posting "his own ideas", by posting his views through the writings of others. I believe Alan senses, as I do, that an indirect approach on this discussion might be best, at this time.

I am sure both Alan's and "my" responses are sometimes frustrating to you; however, speaking for myself, much of what I post is meant to challenge and test my own, long-standing opinions and replace or enhance them with alternative views and perspectives, or at the very least, to acknowledge and honor others points of view.

I very much enjoy, both yours and Alan's contributions to this site for my personal enrichment. I hope you will be able to continue to interact in a thoughtful and mutually respectful way.
