Re: Alabama Leads Opposition to Morrill Tariff

David --

The ability of either Congressman to recall earlier debates in the House of Representatives is not questioned. I asked if Sydenham Moore, George S Houston, or anyone else at the Alabama Secession Convention brought the tariff question to the floor. in other words, was secession about the tariff, or something else?

Do you have a quotes about the the Morrill Tariff from the Alabama Secession Convention? The complete debates have been posted for anyone to review. Since you are contending that the tariff issue helped to drive the secession movement, I admit that reasonable arguments have been made to support your position.

I look forward to your next post on this topic.
