Yes, I've heard the same thing. He also hated Pensacola because there was so much sand and heat. He and Jackson pretty much depleted the native population around the lower Alabama area. These things are something that make you just want to dislike someone but then they go do something that makes 'dislike' almost a crime. Though we understand it is almost taboo to mention them, many of those men in that little mission had some unpleasant things in their biography. Still, they didn't cross that line so there's something to be said for that.

Also because of those actions by Jackson, Crockett and others, we had others rise and make history. Billy Powell was a survivor of Horseshoe Bend. That experience as a young boy made him a formidable opponant down the road. Native Floridians love our Osceola and the others who tried to do the impossible.
