Thank You Sir; You are correct "Quad" means 4, "Octo" means 8. my mistake. This subject was at the heart of the Clark Gable movie "Band of Angles".

I often wonder about the ethinic composition of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Louisiana Native Guards? Just how many of these classifications were involved in the makeup of these units? It is interesting that while in Louisiana State Service these units where commanded by "Black" officers. I suspect that some of these Officers were of the classifications which we are speaking of here.
