And most Yankees seem to have no rational perspective. I recently read a post of somebody whining because her ggg-grandfather was captured and sent to Andersonville where he was "tortured and starved". The civilians living in Chicago during the War were cognizant and concerned enough to bring food to Confederate POW's at Camp Douglas. And if the CSA or civilians in the vicinity of Andersonville had enough food, they would have shared it with those POW's. The difference is that withholding necessities like fruit and vegetables, blankets, etc. was a policy of the Lincoln regime as opposed to the Confederates at Andersonville, who did not have the resources to adequately feed their own soldiers or make sustainable accommodations for all of the POW's. Making war on non combatants was Lincoln's strategy.
