Very interesting. Not only was the value artificially high, the number of slave owners, using the slave census, is so flawed that it inflates the true number of owners (that will never be known without great cost to research) to a great extent.

There is a clashing of ideas right now over the Irish Slave Trade. Now there are historians pushing that it was a myth and down playing the history as new and made up. I am interested to see where this leads.
