"September 17, 1864: The baptist church of Christ at Ebenezer met
in conference. The Door of the church was opened for the
reception of members. E. T. Dunn was received into the
fellowship of this church upon a certificate of baptism from
Elder A. Van Hoose a missionary in the Confederate Army. Also J.
S. Perkins on a certificate of baptism from Elder Thos. O.
Teasdale. On motion the church proceeded to elect delegates to
the association. Bros. L. G. Brown and J. S. McCoy tellers,
Bros. L. Perkins Jas. Duck and W. L. Jenkins were elected
delegates. Bro. L. G. Brown alternate. Moved and seconded the
church and congregation petition the association to hold its
next annual meeting with us at Ebenezer. Motion carried.
Conference then adj. Elder M. S. Shirk, Mo., W. H. Gunby, Ch.
Clk."

"December 19, 1864: The baptist church of Christ at Ebenezer met
in conference. The privileges of the church were offered and
Sharlotte servant of Bro. W. L. Johns was received as a
candidate for baptism. A report being in circulation that the
colored Bro. Joe belonging to Est. of T. J. Andrews had been
guilty of theft, a committee consisting of Bro. W. L. Johns,
John Van Kluck and l. Perkins was appointed to investigate the
case and report at our next conference. On Motion of Bro. W. L.
Johns the church went into the election of a preacher for the
ensuing year and Elder M. S. Shirk was unanimously elected to
preach on the first and third sabbath in each month but in his
answer he declined preaching on the first sabbath stating as his
reason he felt it his duty to give Galilee one sabbath in the
month. Conference then adjourned. Elder M. S. Shirk, Mo., L.
