From 1861 to 1866 there were 326 engagements, fights, massacres, and battles between Americans and Native American tribes. From 1855 to 1860 there had been 176.

Its after the Civil War the fights got worse.

From 1867 to 1872 there were 519.
From 1873 to 1878 there were 148.

The Apache were number one in number of engagements at 214 and the U.S. 1st Cavalry with 208 between 1850 and 1890.

The U.S. Cavalry lost in casualties 6,482 men between 1850 and 1890.

In 1861 the most casualties on both sides was in the State of California.

In 1865 """ Wyoming
In 1866 """ Arizonia

Arizona tops the list in the number of fights (310) and casualties at 4,340. Texas comes in second with 250 fights and 2,060 casualties.
