I do not live in SC so am not all that familiar with its counties and districts. I can tell you, however, that the 3rd SC Cav. completed its organization during the spring of 1862 and many of its men were from Marion, Colleton, Beaufort, Barnwell and Calhoun counties. Hope that helps.
