Lee, Fred and Drew,
Thanks for the responses. Drew, I'll be looking for that book. I have an ancestor in the 5th Georgia Infantry, Alston Hunter Green (A.H.G.) Howell, thus my interest in this backshelf campaign in late 1864 South Carolina. In spite of the family relationship, I've always had an interest in these lesser-known battles and skirmishes. The sacrifice and courage of these men, North and South, was no less than that exhibited at Shiloh, Gettysburg, Franklin.
I'm trying to make sense or construct a picture in my mind of what the Federals were doing in the late 1864 early 1865 period in SC. There are so many small skirmishes with different units in unfamiliar locations it's got me rather confused.
The OR's have sparce coverage of this period and these engagements, so if anyone comes across more sources for the units engaged and this campaign, please post here.
Jim
