I figured that my be the case. I have that John A. Hamilton volunteered as a sergeant in Pettigrew's Regiment, but he is not listed in the main c.s. roster or otherwise on the net as having been associated with them. He did serve with Co. D. 1st Charleston (Gaillard's) Btn. where he served as assistant commisary on James Island in 61-62.
