I have a picture of my great-grandfather, John M. Rowe, 5th SC Cavalry, that may be of interest. I do not know if the uniform he is wearing is of a militia unit before the war, or if this is an early uniform of the 14th Battalion SC Cavalry. (I doubt it is what the 5th SC Cavaly would have worn). If you could help identify it, I'd be glad to e-mail you a copy.
