In the 1860 Census, a Francis Austin age 9 is shown with the family of David Austin age 40, Mary age 31, Henrietta age 11, Henry age 8, Percy age 4, and Mary age 2 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC.

In the 1860 Census, William W. Hunsucker age 31 of Moore County, NC was married to a Mary Jane age 24 with child John W. age 10 months and with boarder William Campbell age 19.

In the 1880 Census the Hunsucker family is shown as follows:

Name Age
Wm W Hunsucker 52
Christian Hunsucker 38
William T Hunsucker 16
E Kate Hunsucker 14
Mary M Hunsucker 7
Neill M Hunsucker 4
George G Hunsucker 2
Thomas Sinclair 19

Annie apparently had a step mother. I couldn't find Francis or Annie in the 1880 Census, but that doesn't mean they aren't there under another spelling, etc. Maybe somebody with an Ancestery.com subscription can do better.

I finally found my Duncan family in the 1870 Census by using the unusual first name, Kasper, of one of my grandfather's brothers. It was the first one to come up in the search using only that first name. The family surname had been scratched in the original census document and was unreadable.
