Re: Did the 26th S.C. Inf have a Co C??

I thank you for this information. A question about conscripts. Would this be the same as being drafted? If so, why would Eli be a conscript and his brother Wilson not have to enlist until late 1864? I believe the men were only two years difference in age. Where would Wilson have gone to enlist this late in the war? I have ordered his war packet so perhaps that information will be available to me soon, but just curious. We always assumed Wilson enlisted earlier in the war and never returned. I suppose because we found his family in 1870 in Cains Township, Marion County, but Wilson was no longer present. I know his wife Rebecca Cain Keeffe and her mother Rebecca Holland Cain both died December 1870. I found this information in a Bible listed online but no mention was made of Wilson Keeffe, particularly missing was information of his death.
Once again thank you for your help. I have relatives that all fought for the South. Most of them were in Alabama, and I have had an easier time getting information online for that state. So your help has been greatly appreciated.
