The 3rd SCVI and Co. K fought in Bonham's/Kershaw's Brigade from June 61 until April 65 when it surrendered at Goldsboro. If you ancestor is Cpl. James Foster, I'm sorry to tell you he was KIA at Maryland Heights in September 1862. If your ancestor is L. Perrin Foster (James brother), he enlisted in Spartanburg 4/14/61 and was made a Lt. in Co. K at age 24. He was admitted to Charlotesville General Hospital on 9/14/61 with bronchiis and jaundice. He returned to the company (and commanded it) and fought at Malvern Hill. He was promoted to CPT between July and October of 1862 and KIA at Frederickburg.
