Mac Wyckoff. recently retired US Park Service Historian at Fredericksburg, VA, has written an outstanding regimantal history, including biographical sketches of each of the men who served in the 3rd South Carolina Infantry. Unfortunately, this book has been out of print for some time. The good news is that a new edition of "A History of the 3rd South Carolina Infantry: 1861-1865" is being published by Broadfoot Publishing Company of Wilmington, NC and is due out in December 2008. This book is a greatly enhanced edition with much new information, including additional letters, diaries, photographs, etc. that were not available to Mr. Wyckoff when the first edition was published. The new edition will be part of a series of approximately 50 books documenting the infantry, cavalry and artillery regiments that served in the American Civil War from South Carolina.
