Hospital card headings often include misleading information. For instance, a card may read "Williamsburg, Va.", the original location of the Episcopal Church Hospital. However, the Confederates evacuated this facility in early May 1862 which moved to Petersburg VA.

Hospital cards in CSRs were created from hospital records requested in the original post in this thread. It seems as if we're talking about information that already exists in the soldier's service file. Yet it sounds as if we're being asked about something else. Besides what's actually recorded on them, what are hospital records supposed to tell us?
