Abner R. Low, enlisted in Company C, Infantry Regiment, Holcombe Legion, South Carolina Volunteers, January 1, 1862, at Adams Run/Camp Walsh, for one year, he was listed on extra duty as a Nurse, subsequently transferred to Company K, 5th South Carolina Regiment, believe October 29, 1862

The Holcombe Legion South Carolina Volunteers, consisting of an infantry regiment and a cavalry battalion, was organized November 21, 1861. The cavalry battalion was separated from the Legion and increased to a regiment and designated the 7th South Carolina Cavalry by S. O. No. 65, A. & I. G. O., dated March 18, 1864.
