Thanks for your reply. I wish the W. S. Edge you mention and the William Jasper Edge I'm researching could be the same person, but they are not. In 1880, William Jasper Edge had moved to Alabama and was living in Cherokee County, AL. He belonged to a Confederate Veterans group Cherokee Co. AL and attended several reunions in that area, according to newspaper articles. He always claimed he served in McBeth's/ Macbeth's SC Light Artillery.
