Re: 22nd SC Infantryman Grave Location

Ed:

I am interested in sharing information on men who served in the Hampton Legion Infantry, most partiuclalry from descendants or other relatives. Please contact me at Sturkey@wctle.net. I have a limited amount of informaiton on him, but a mass of material on Company D, which had a very active Survivor's Association postwar, and had a historian who wrote a number of very vivid acocunts of the company and its members, most of them about camp life. I can't rmemember off the top of my head if your great-great grandfather was mentioned by name in any of them or nor, but he would have been aware of the events, whether he participated or not. The author, William F. Lee, joined the company in the spring of 1862, and served through to the end. His accounts, when compared with other contemporary material, show him to be an unusually accurate observor. His information when compared always seems to be corroborated by other contemporary material. I hope to hear from you.
