My ancestor William Scates Co. K PSS: on his records I obtained from SC, his muster of June 1862 is listed and then it says he was "absent - sick at hospital". He died at a Lynchburg Hospital in Jan of 1863. Would he have remained in a hospital for that long [7 months]? I have no idea how often troops were "mustered" or hospital protocol during the war. Can anyone help me with this one? Thanks..
