Re: SC 8th Infantry Regiment Co E

Thank ya'll for responding.
Co E from Darlington is right on target with what I am trying to find. I am searching for two ancestors with similar names that were cousins.
The first soldier was James Nelson Sanders Kirby from Darlington District son of Samuel Kirby. I found out he was in Company E killed at Deep Bottom. I found this out from the Darlington Historical Society but not a date. In a family bible it says he was killed at Gettysburg 1863. I have found mistakes in other family bibles so this could be wrong. I am trying to determine which is truth.
The second soldier is a son of Nelson Kirby who was born in Darlington but moved to Lynchburg Sumter county in 1820's. On 1850 Census his son's name was Nelson S Kirby. His name on the Sumter County Monument is written as Nelson Kirby jr. I did see there is a N. S. Kirby in Culpeppers Battery Company C. I assume this is him but I have not been able to find anything on him. All of the other Kirby's in Culpeppers company C were first cousins.
In both cases I am trying to find out when and where these two Kirby's were killed. Any information on these two soldiers would be great interest to me. Also,I cannot find anything on SC 8th Infantry Regiment Co E. I appreciate the info. Mike Kirby
