James, there were at least 25 or 30 camps in and around Knoxville during the war, both Confederate and Federal. The reason being that the city changed hands several times and over several years. I will try to get a list of them for you, it may take a while. If you can get a copy of "Divided Loyalties" by Digby Seymour, its best account of the war in East Tennessee and the Knoxville area I have ever read. There are many maps and photos also. Jreb
