I agree that East Tennessee has for the most part been over looked in the history of the war. Perhaps if it was not for the blunder of Gen Longstreet and Gen Wheeler, more imporance would be given to this area of the Confederate States. Gen Longstreet could have taken Knoxville and once again placed East Tennessee in the hands of the Confederacy. In MHO Gen Longstreet wanted to cut all ties to the Army of Tennessee and get back to the ANV. Can't say I blame him too much. the Army of Tennessee was in one hell of a mess and Pres Davis was not doing anything to help. Jreb
